Nearly 30 years ago, I lived in Britanny for I while. I had relatives in Alsace, I visited different regions many times. Everywhere you could find wonderful traditional boulangeries/patisseries. Two years ago I visited Britanny again after some years. We found Croissants, which were quiet o.k., but Baguette? No chance! Yes, most were eatable, but not at all as it used to be. So disappointing! The ones I‘m baking now at home, are much better. Not only better than the german so-called Baguettes, but even than most french Baguettes. Sometimes I would prefer to buy them, because I need more than two days of preparation for Baguettes, but I don‘t know where I can get good ones.
With a name like Chouchen who would have guessed...
Yes the industrial boulangeries are everywhere now, I have to go 4 km to buy bread, my neighbourhood is a bread desert - Lidl is where the neighbours go...
For a bread eating experience try the Aveyron. Brittany is the French capital of the agro-industry out to crush good food growing and production.
