I've started riding the WAW without a hood - it is a nice change, although not when the temperature drops to 4 Celsius. I didn't stop for long after taking this photo!

There are two ways to ride without a hood and not get too cold:

  1. foam cover and
  2. visor

I don't know whether there is a foam cover available for your WAW. I have one for my Alpha 7 and I know of covers for the DF. Those covers help not to take in lots of cold air through the large man hole.

If it's not too cold, you can make yourself a visor. If you take a clear plastic sheet and cut out the shape it is quite simple to attach it to your WAW using velcro or magnets (my preference). The visor shields your face from the wind.

My recommendation: lower than 0°C: foam cover; over 3 - 5°C: visor
The visor is also recommended if you're sensitive to wind and don't like to wear googles.

b.t.w.: neither cover nor visor are a cure against cold temperatures if you decide to leave your VM ;)
