How does the M9 compare to your DF?
Compared to the DF XL, there has been more space from the inside in the first M9 model from Daniel than like the DF XL. The new M9 model will be more compact than the first model I test drove. The test drive was only about 3 minutes (of which I have also made a video), because I was at the time at the Lausitzring at the 24-hour world record attempt by Nici Walde to be there, I have not taken more time for it, because I have made pictures and videos and still helped where I could help
.
On the whole, I can say that the M9 was much more stable and true to track on the road than my DF XL. I could practically accelerate without my hands on the wheel and the M9 went straight and it didn't care what I was doing
. You could steer it with one finger (tank steering) which was pretty impressive. You also have to remember that my DF XL No. 45 is from 2015 and therefore from the first generation. I still have to rebuild the new steering plates and other things. It is a good velomobile, but I can not imagine that it will come to the driving characteristics of a M9
, since there are simply years, development, etc in between. I can only recommend everyone who is interested in something like this to take a test drive and see for yourself. But the fact is, I drove on a near-optimal surface, without holes or anything else and the asphalt was also very good (race track
)
Based on this experience and the current development of the W9, I will do a test ride with the W9 as soon as the velomobile will be available.
I've already test ridden an Alpha 7 (May 2021 at Velomobile North, first VM experience and without proper bike clothes, with hood without "pants" in wind and rain 64km/h Gps) and that had been my goal so far. But something tells me that the W9 will be better. But there are other people in the forum, which have switched from the DF (XL) to a M9/A9 and have made more experience and especially kilometers, than I Velomobile newbie. The can help you with your decision there maybe further and better than I
.
But I can only recommend everyone to make test drives in general, no matter with what, whether it is about velomobiles, bicycles, cars or motorcycles.
I wish you all the best
