What is your opinion on this? Let's discuss the weak/good part of respective bike. Both bikes are already proven on long tours so that is not the issue. What I would like to know is what can go wrong on the respective bike over longer time? Lets not mention parts that are selectable like wheels, drivetrain etc that is same for both bikes as they can have the same parts if you select them.
My bike is from 2008 and is in almost new condition having traveled max 1000 km. Does the aluminum frame age and get weaker when standing still for a long time? Would you trust such an old bike?
A quote from Honza from Azub is "The aluminum is getting older and worse so 10+ years old frames are not so strong as the new ones.". I don´t know if he meant regardless of distance cycled?
I have already seen frame cracks on world tours with Streetmachine.
Other potential problems: Pivot axle or maybe its called rear swing arm? Bearings especially.
I think Streetmachine has a propriety headset?
