@bbike
Wir trafen auf unserer 2022 Rotterdamreise einen sympathischen Franzosen aus Besancon der zum Nordkapp und zurück fuhr. HP Scorpion, Solardach, Bafangmotor. Also einfach bauen!
@bbike this is the standard way of putting a panel on a trike as I wrote in my first post.
Today you can find lighter, flexible panels with high output and which are not expensive (less than 100€). What you do at the corners to protect pedestrians and cyclists is then much easier than with the standard aluminium panel meant to go on a house roof like on the photo above!
Usually (not like in the photo) the panel pivots along the length of the trike so that you can catch the sun from the side when driving and making it easier to get on and off. The front will be lower than the rear so that in strong headwind the front wheels are pushed down - yes there will always be aerodynamic drag but you have a motor to compensate for that. The ones I know have a 3-4º angle from the rear to the front. In a tail wind the panel becomes a sail and with side winds you tilt the panel to compensate.
From what I have seen on the trikes here they have a "small" battery and run mostly off the Watts coming from the panel direct to the motor. They both have large direct drive motors and are speed restricted to 45 km/h (for the Suntrip). As they are competition vehicles they can use the loophole in the regulations allowing for more than 25 km/h. I have forgotten which article in the EU machinery directive that is. Maybe
@JKL who has read that so many times he remembers by heart can help?
My personal choice would be a trailer with a 1150x510 100W panel connected to a charger and have 2 x batteries:
- one battery in use on the trike
- the other one charging in the trailer
- an option would be 1 or 2 other panels stacked which you would deploy and plug in parallel when getting to your destination
