I have been collecting some data to see if the Continental Contact Speed 28-406 performs well compared to the Schwalbe One 28-406 at low temperatures.
The efficiency value is calculated as follow: 100% efficiency is established for 20°c without any wind, any fog or any rain for different average power (125W, 140W and 150 W)
As you will see in the data, there are variations in efficiency that are also wind, rain and fog dependent. But the trend lines are giving a good indication.
Please note that during the period of the year when I don’t need a front light, I am installing the GoPro inside the nose instead of the lamp. As of end of September, I have to put back the front light and mount the GoPro on top of my racecap and I am losing 2-3% efficiency.
From this data, I don’t see any significant efficiency difference between the Schwalbe One and the Continental Contact Speed.
The only down side of the Continental Contact Speed is its grip under wet conditions: it is a bit worse than the Schwalbe One. But you can’t have it all.
