@schlawag I never used wax as I always use normal wet lube. But already with wet lube, it doesn't come out by itself. Part of it does, but much of it stays inside; part of it makes it halfway out and stays under the sides of the chain links where you can't reach it with cloth.
If you apply lube before the chain is all clean, part of the dirt (metal shavings) can flush back in, even worsening the situation.
In a velomobile, there is little dirt besides these metal shavings. After all the bike is fully enclosed. That's also what I usually see - the black stuff most people call dirt is mostly a metallic slurry.
