At the moment I'm trying to find a good dynamo setup for my Carbon Quest. The main purpose wheel be for charging powerbanks or batteries for light when going on longer trips. I'm properly not the first with these ideers why I hope you will share your experiences.
So far I have two ideers:
1) Hub dynamo with 20" wheel (external solution)
Found a hub at Ginkgo and thinking about having the to make a wheel with it - https://www.ginkgo-veloteile.de/gin...&&sid=7985fdd2a39cb6f90903953be3952601&lang=1
I think the advances will be:
* When not pedaling it will still be charging
Disadvantages:
* Need to do some modifications on the original setup

* The heat from breaking might damage the dynamo or wire
* Water meigh damage the unit.
2) Using a normal dynamo hub (internal solution)
Thinking about connecting the hub to the internal chain drive:
a) At the crank by mounting an extra chainring on the inside of the crankset for drive the dynamo mounted below the crankbox.
b) Using the chain behind the seat to rotate the dynamo - a bit like this
Power thief:
Unless choosing 1, 2a or 2b I have to use a power thief and found:
* PowerBug -
* b+m USB-Werk -
* SunUp -
Found on this site: https://www.cyclingabout.com/list-of-hub-dynamo-power-supplies-for-usb-devices/
* Sinewave Revolution -
* Igaro D1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOpnd_qdxhc
* Forumslader V5 -
* Be On Bike Dynamo Harvester - https://gpsradler.de/test-technik/be-on-bike-dynamo-harvester-test/
Many possibilities and I'm open for other ideas as well..
