Rund ums Velomobil LEIBA x-stream

Manchmal ist man sooo dämlich:
Ich bin dieses Jahr auch bei zweifelhaftem Wetter mit dem Dino zur Arbeit gefahren oder habe sogar für die Kurzstrecke das Auto genommen, weil ich es einfach nervig fand, für die paar Kilometer die Fahrradschuhe an- und auszuziehen und weil sich meine Alltagsschuhe mit ihren recht weichen Sohlen auf den Klickies nicht gerade angenehm fahren.
Vor einiger Zeit sah ich an dem Fahrrad eines Kollegen kombinierte Bärentatzen- / Klickpedale. Eigentlich logisch, dass es die geben muss. Wieso bin ich nicht früher darauf gekommen? Jetzt wartet bei mir ein Paar Shimano-Padale Typ SPD-M 324 auf seinen Einbau. Kostenpunkt € 39,99 und damit wirklich bezahlbar. Ich sollte also bald wieder mehr von meiner X-Stream berichten können.

Mir geht es gerade umgekehrt: Es gab von Shimano für den Sommer Sandalen die mit Klettband geschlossen werden (100% Kunststoffsohle, nicht wirklich für längere Strecken). Das ist einfacher und schneller als die Alltagschuhe :). Die Kombi-Pedale hab ich raus geschmissen (an einem Pedal löste sich gerade ein Teil und war so nicht mehr zu gebrauchen) und durch nur Klick-Pedalen ersetzt. Warum soll ich das Risiko mit der Archillesferse eingehen (zumindest auf der linken Seite)?

Du meinst das Risiko mit der Ferse im Fußloch zu verhaken? Bei Tempo 30 oder mehr? :confused::eek:
Ich glaube das würde ich auch lieber nicht riskieren. Wenn man aber kein Fußloch hat, dann wäre das beidseitig sicherlich eine gute Lösung, wenn man kurze Strecken auch mal anders fahren will.

Genau das. Geht auch bei geringerem Tempo:eek:. Zumal die Sandalen sich wirklich fix an- und ausziehen lassen. Über die Optik kann man streiten, aber aber von "für Schönheit leiden" halte ich nicht wirklich viel:).
 
Wie ich gerade die Woche wieder ausprobieren konnte, lassen sich die Sandalen auch bei Temperaturen um den Gefrierpunkt, mit Wollsocken und offenem Fußloch noch bequem fahren.

hmm...
ich liebe meine Fahrradschuhe..
sie haben ein Netzstoff und sind so recht luftig für gutes Fussklima
an und ausgezogen in Sekunden, haben ja Klettverschluss
falls mal zu locker sind sie auch wärend des Fahrens in Sekunden strammer geklettet

hab mehrere davon...
für die "ich schwitz mir auf der Tour die Seele aus dem Leib"-Touren oder ich fahr 1 Woche am Stück mit den selben Schuhen auf Tour nehme ich die alten,
die schönen dann eher für den Alltag, da werden sie nicht "vollgeschwitzt"

in der Arbeit stehen unterm Tisch dann die schönen Schuhe...

und wenn ich spontan mal ins Kino will oder Einkaufen etc... is ja kein Problem mit den Klickis...
ich habs ungekehrt schon öfters gehabt, dass ich spontan dann doch mit dem Auto fahren musste und dann barfuss gefahren bin, weil ich klickis angehabt hab ;)
Klickis sind für mich eigentlich die Alltagsschuhe, in meinem Alltag
 
es sind die Schuhe die ich am häufigsten trage, außer bei der Arbeit und zuhause in der Wohnung

alles andere sind "spezialschuhe" (Turnschuhe, Halbschuhe, Anzugschuhe, Schuhe fürs Autofahren, ...) - Schuhe die halt für so spezielle Anlässe getragen werden ;)

Leute die nur 1mal die Woche aufs Radl steigen, klar: für die sind dann die Klickis die Spezialschuhe ;)
 
Ich gebe Dir absolut recht. Wenn man mit dem VM täglich zur Arbeit fährt, die Zeit bei der Arbeit und in der Wohnung ausblendet, wann soll man da noch andere "normale" Schuhe tragen:confused:? Ich hätte da keine Zeit mehr dafür:). Wochenende vielleicht noch, aber bei einem Verhältnis von 5/2, kann man das dann auch nicht mehr als "Normal-Schuhwerk" bezeichnen.
 
Sorry for writing this in English but I still hope a fellow X-Stream rider here can help me solve a mystery. Last year I bought a used Leiba X-Stream, it seems to be an early one:

When pushing the pedals to accelerate or ride up a hill the bike makes a creaking noise. Looking under the seat it turned out that the chain roll had eaten a piece of chain tubing:

I replaced the roll and fixed the tubing but found something that worries me more, the hole through which the roll is attached is worn and there is a big crack:

I'm wondering what could have caused the big crack and the frame being pushed inwards. Do other X-streams have the roll attached to the same hole?

The bottom part of the frame has come loose from the body - a common problem I read in another post and also the welds to the front tube are damaged:

Have anyone of you seen something like this before? I did see that other X-Streams seem to lack the 'support beams' on the side in the construction of the last picture.
 
Noch nicht angesehen. Für mich ist wichtig, dass sie halten. Ich krabbele nun mal nicht in meine Leiba um die Schönheit der Schweißnähte zu bewundern :D.
Aber wenn ich das Bild sehe, muss ich das vielleicht doch mal machen, um nach möglichen Rissen Ausschau zu halten. Alu ist da etwas weniger standfest. Ob man die Aluteile so einfach tauschen kann?
 
Irgendwie habe ich keine Probleme mit den Sch(w)eißnähten bei meiner X-S. Vielleicht ist bei meinem Vorserienexemplar noch alles etwas üppiger bemaßt und ich bin nicht so der Drehmomentskurbler...
Dafür ächzt der Sitz bei etwas heftigerem Antritt und verwindet sich spürbar und kraftfressend. Ich frage mich gerade, wie ich einen Novosportsitz verbauen kann.

I'm really sorry, but have no idea to solve the mystery:
Sometime it can happen that the chain roll or something else had eaten a piece of chain tubing. But that is not a serious problem. Simply improve the fixing of the chain tubing.
What could have caused the crack in the main beam at the chain roll, I don't have the faintest idea. My X-Stream is about 3 1/2 years old and the roll ist fixed at the same place, but without any cracks, as far as I can see.
The 'support beams' are at the same place as well.
When I put the pedal to the metal, the round beam, moves clearly visible to the left and right side. So may be, in a few years there will be the same cracks nearby the support beams, through I never heard of such cracks. Aluminium is not the best for repetitive distortions. So for example, Riese and Müller recommends to replace the handlebar at their folding bike Birdy every 2 years.

Did you asked at leiba to repair these cracks?
 
I mailed Leiba and got a response that the frame can be replaced or reinforced with GFK. Haven't heard yet what a new frame costs. Depending on that I want to replace it or reinforce it for now and replace it later.

Good to know that the design is the same at the moment that suggests that it isn't a common problem but that something happened to my bike in the past.

Replace the broken part or get it welded properly. Ask Leiba what type of aluminum alloy they used for that part. It makes the job of the welder much easier if he knows exactly what type of alloy he is dealing with.

I wouldn't 'reinforce' it with GFK. At least not, if you want to make sure it lasts.

Well, it looks like simple fatigue cracks to me. No need for something to happen to your Leiba in the past.
The welding seam doesn't look exactly stellar and aluminum is relatively prone to fatigue cracks at welding seams*. Especially at welding seams that weren't heat treated after welding (depends on the type of aluminum alloy, though).

*guess, why the various parts of an airplane fuselage aren't welded, but riveted. Rivets usually don't crack. ;)

ich hab glaub ich noch nie ne X-Stream live gesehen..
das sie ein "Dickschiff" ist wusste ich...

aber das Quest ist ja schon ein Dickschiff... und wirkt klein neben der Leiba… Wahnsinn..
vielleicht seh ich ja mal auf der Spezi eine live
