Maybe I will put the file on thingiverse so that people can download and print at home? The Carbon Fibre tube is from China, very good quality and standard 22 mm exterior / 20 mm interior handlebar dimension but I think you can find it in hobby drone shops too (we don't have any here).
A KT-LCD button version (with 3 cm of carbon tube) I could produce @ 1.50 EUR + postage (ordinary stamp, it weighs about 5 grams) but I would want to deliver a product with better finish than I can obtain at the moment from my printer.
Of course it is very easy to draw your own in FreeCAD because I am only learning (again) myself, I honestly only took about 10 minutes:
- 11 mm radius circle, pad to 13 mm
- on top 9.8 mm circle (0.1 mm tolerance), pad to 10 mm
- 5 mm hole through centre (5.1 mm for loose tolerance)
- create a datum plane on the side and sketch an 11 mm radius circle which you use to make a pocket both sides of the datum plane
I drilled and tapped a hole in the bars. I think that if you want to install something that requires more strength it would be best to install a rivnut on the bar instead. That would require modifying the 3D part so that it fits over the rivnut.
I have a couple of other parts to make which others might find useful so I will probably put them all together in one "trike parts" package on thingiverse:
- a light holder for the AZUB neck-rest which will hold a b+m secula and a b+m toplight mini (which as well as being a larger reflector will be a brake light). I will probably also have mounting points for motorcycle bar end indicators...
- a headlight/accessory mount for the top of the derailleur post
- an adapter to mount the b + m secula on the rear mudguard (I ordered the wrong one ...)
So I road tested the mount just after printing and mounting on the trike, the angle is just 5º off my line of sight but it is still visible. Crash tested, nothing broke...
I slow rolled the trike going up a stupid steep path. And yes! it clears the seat on full steering lock
